Brooklawn is a two storey eighteenth century stone cottage that has recently been refurbished. The house is light and airy with whitewashed walls and pale oak floors. The downstairs rooms open into one another creating a lovely social atmosphere. The galley kitchen is well equipped and the round dining table comfortably seats eight. The boot room - with its liscannor stone floor - is a fantastically useful entry space with plenty of room for hanging up coats and beach clothes, a washing machine and separate tumble dryer. The boot room leads through to a small study area and a shower room. There is a cosy sitting room with a wood burning stove, and a glass room at the front of the house (with further seating) which has stunning views across the bay.
There are three good sized double bedrooms upstairs, and one small room with a single bed. Two small but well equipped bathrooms are upstairs, (one ensuite) with huge baths and plenty of hot water. Downstairs there is a cloakroom with a fantastic power shower. The two double bedrooms at the front have wonderful sea views. All bedrooms have cotton bed linen.
The situation of the house is very special with a stunning west facing terrace, perfect for sunsets. The estuary has a number of rare birds visiting and you can still hear the cry of the Curlew here. The landscaped garden has a stream running through it , edged with fuschias and ferns. There is a lower garden with a stone seating area. Monbretias brighten the garden with colour, and in June and July the scent of wild honeysuckle fills the house. The house is tucked in under the hill and feels very private, but is only a short drive from Clifden.
